Over at Danny Choo’s site, he has a photo tour of a new blood donation center opening in Akihabara called Akiba:F – probably one of the most sci-fi friendly and high-tech facilities I’ve ever seen in my life. The Japanese certainly understand their target market – by opening a high-tech facility like this in the heart of Akihabara they’re likely to impress and attract the folks who are likely hanging out down there.
Not only does the blood donation center have really nifty interview rooms, but the chairs are luxurious and sport LCD displays to watch TV, snacks and drinks, manga to read while you wait or have your blood drawn – there’s free wifi all over the place, and if you’re a Vocaloids fan there are figures of Hatsune Miku all over the place. Danny thinks it looks like it’s straight out of the movie Total Recall, but I think it looks more like it’s off the set of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
