ExtremeTech :: Logitech G19 Keyboard Review

As a proud owner of the Logitech G15 (1st version – the 2nd version I hate because I can’t stand the orange backlighting), I was thrilled when I saw the designs for the G19 at CES earlier this year. Now the Logitech G19 is close to release, and the lucky folks at ExtremeTech took it for a spin to see how it performed, both as an everyday keyboard and as the gaming luxury it was designed to be.
The general conclusion? The G19 is an excellent keyboard, albeit overpriced at $199 MSRP. Yeah, that’s a lot of money to spend on a keyboard – there’s no doubt about that. But look at it! It’s so gorgeous…so beautiful…so…look at the blue keys…
Okay fine. I don’t think anyone but the most aggressive, rolling-in-money gamers (or those willing to part with their hard earned cash…like me) will find themselves picking this up when it’s released. But as the price slides down, Logitech may have a real winner on their hands – and they may even without.
Is This the New Mac Mini?

Is this a photo of an upcoming model of the Mac Mini? The poor Mac Mini has been all but left out in the cold for months now, the little Apple model that could; designed for people who live cross-platform lives and want a Mac Mini to compliment their setups, or for people looking for something like the AppleTV but with a little more oomph.
Rumor from the folks at AppleInsider is that this photo is of the rear of a yet-unannounced Apple Mac Mini, due sometime this year. According to the photo, Apple’s blown out the rear with more USB ports and a move to both mini DVI and Mini DisplayPort for video. This would seem to be a nod to the people who wanted the Mac Mini to sit more on the border between entry level Mac and potential home-theatre/set-top computer.
When will it be announced, if it’s even real? Who knows – but it’s about time, at least in my opinion, Apple paid a little more attention to the Mac Mini. It could be so much more than it is.

10 Job Listing Sites with Unique Opportunities

Let’s face it, the job market is bad. Really bad. That doesn’t mean that you can’t look for something better if you’re already employed, and it doesn’t mean you can’t search for a really good job if you aren’t.

The 20 Best Free PC Games

ExtremeTech’s got an excellent round up of fantastic PC games that are available now, available for free, and run on just about any hardware. You don’t have to have a shiny Core i7 system in order to run these titles, many of which are old, much-loved games that have had their source code released for free. One perfect example? The Marathon Trilogy (box art shown above), widely regarded as one of the best first-person-shooters to ever hit the genre. Made by Bungie in their pre-Microsoft days, when they were game developing for the Mac exclusively. That doesn’t mean that your Marathon downloads are Mac-only; this puppy’s available for Windows AND Linux!
There are some other great games in the lineup as well, like a couple of notable strategy games like FreeCiv and Ikariam, as well as titles we all know and love like Puzzle Pirates. You can also pick up some adventure titles and side-scrollers like Fancy Pants Adventures and Cave Story.
But seriously – no one told me Marathon was free. What’s up with that?
